Students from Rugby High were invited to play at a Reception at which Theresa May gave a speech. The reception took place on the Terrace at the House of Commons on Tuesday 18th October and was hosted by Graham Brady MP and the Grammar School Heads Association.

Gold Award
Congratulations to the nineteen students at Rugby High who completed the Expedition section of the Gold Award in July. The expedition was based in the Lake District and the three teams had to traverse Helvellyn in heavy winds followed by torrential rain. The planned wild camp at Grisedale Tarn was abandoned as the wind tore down the valley. In very tough conditions spirits sagged and then soared as all paticipants went on to complete the gruelling trek. Congratulations to them all. More pictures can be found by clicking here
Golden Girls
Rugby High School students are today celebrating another fantastic series of A level results. Students’ results will enable them to take up university places including at Newcastle to study Marine Technology and Marine Engineering, Aston to study Optometry and University College London to study Neuroscience. Increasingly students are considering alternatives to university so two students will be embarking on apprenticeships with the BBC and with Deloitte whilst one adventurous soul will be continuing in her bid to represent Great Britain in downhill skiing.
41.2% of all entries were awarded the top A*- A grades. 74.1% of entries were awarded A*- B and 93.1% of all entries A*-C. The overall pass rate was 99.8%.
Top performing students Include Simran Johal who will be studying medicine at Clare College Cambridge and Steffi Hodgetts who will be reading Law at Oriel College, Oxford. Four students gained 3 passes at A* and 46% of the year group achieved ABB or better: premium grades which will give them access to a huge range of university course and apprenticeships.
Headteacher, Charlotte Marten said, “I am really delighted for our students and proud of their commitment. Looking through the huge range of universities, courses and apprenticeships that they will be embarking on in the next few months, one really gets the sense that for girls at Rugby High, there is no such word as can’t. Our students have broad horizons. They are not constrained by any stereotypical notions about their careers. They are young women who have the confidence to choose their own path. Like our Olympic medallists they know that hard work and commitment are the keys to success. It is so exciting watching them take the next steps on their varying educational journeys. Well done, to the Class of 2016.”
