Rugby High school is a highly achieving girls' grammar school with a co-educational sixth form.

Rugby High School is an 11-18 girls’ grammar school, which accepts boys into our popular Sixth Form. Cleaner
Hours: 10 hours per week TTO plus 1 week (39 weeks)
Pay and scale: NJC Scale B3 - £12.71 per hour
Responsible to: Site Manager
Start Date: as soon as possible
Broad description
To clean specified areas within the school in accordance with the school’s/authority’s standards. Work is undertaken under the guidance of the caretaker / cleaning supervisor. Contribute to the school’s statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Typical tasks include:
- Clean toilets, bowls, sinks and basins
- Wipe down desks and chairs
- Vacuum and tidy classrooms
- Wash worktops/tables
- Wash/mop/sweep floors and wash wet areas
- Clean inside glazing
- Dust and polish
- Use buffer
- Strip and reseal floors (occasionally)
- Undertake routine maintenance of equipment (eg vacuum bags)
- Empty bins and dispose of rubbish
- Ensure safe and effective use and storage of all equipment
- Be aware of Health and Safety at Work regulations and COSHH guidelines
- Draw to caretaker’s attention any problems / issues which may affect the safety or security of the school or its users

Kitchen and Food Service Assistant - Zero Hours Contract
Pay and scale: JC Scale B3 - £12.71 per hour. Pay award pending
Responsible to: Chef Manager
Start date: September 2026
We are seeking to recruit a Kitchen and Food Service Assistant to assist with the production and serving of food items and in the care and cleaning of the kitchen and catering equipment, whilst ensuring levels of hygiene are maintained within the kitchen in accordance with the school’s standards. Your duties will include basic food preparation, preparing counters and the dining room for service, operating the cashless till system, and cleaning duties. Work is undertaken under the guidance of the cook/catering manager.
Main responsibilities
- Wash up (manual and dishwasher)
- Wash tea towels and dishcloths
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces, fridges, sinks, ovens, floors, walls, store areas
- Put out, lay and return to storage, furniture used in the dining room
- Clean dining area
- Set up plates and cutlery for use
- Assist with food preparation, including weighing ingredients, washing and chopping fruit and veg, making salads, drinks
- Serve food, including offering encouragement and guidance to assist pupils in making choices
- Receive food deliveries, check off and put away
- Keep records
- Handle sales transactions via a cashless fingerprint system

Midday Supervisor
Hours: 6.25 hours per week TTO plus 1 week (39 weeks)
Pay and scale: NJC Scale B3 - £24 520 FTE (pro rata actual £3590). Pay award pending.
Responsible to: Chef Manager
Start date: September 2026
We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team to supervise children during the lunchtime period. Work is undertaken under the guidance of the cook/catering manager.
The post will be 6.25 hours per week (1.25 hours per day Monday to Friday) with the hours being worked between 12.50am and 2.05pm during term-time only.
Main responsibilities
- Supervise students while queuing for food
- Supervise students when clearing plates
- Clean dining area and all dining tables
- Supervise and monitor all areas of school during lunch period

Cover Supervisor
£14.18 per hour
Responsible to: Cover Manager/Business Manager
Start date: 1st September 2025 (or as soon as possible after)

- Supervising a whole class to undertake set work/activities and can include introducing and closing the class.
- Maintaining good order and managing behaviour constructively.
- Promotion of self-control and independence.
- Keep pupils on task as necessary.
- Responding appropriately to questions raised by pupils.
- Collecting any completed work and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
- Dealing with immediate problems and emergencies in accordance with the school’s policies.
- Reporting back on behaviour of pupils during the class and any issues arising.
- Supporting the general administration and/or Front of House teams when not actively covering pupils’ lessons.
Qualifications, training and likely abilities
- No formal qualifications required, though literacy and numeracy skills required to be able to read instructions and work out simple measurements.
- We are looking to appoint somebody who has ideally worked in a Secondary school.
- Can understand and operate within regulations
- Can exchange straightforward information with colleagues and users
- Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
- Value and respect the views and needs of children
