Apprenticeships
At RH6 we strive to support each of our students when making choices about their future and aim to keep students informed of their Post A Level options.
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid job that combines work with study. You’ll spend most of your time gaining hands-on experience in a real role, and the rest working towards a formal qualification. Unlike full-time study, you earn a salary and are part of a team but you also get regular, dedicated time for learning each week.

What is a Degree Apprenticeship?
The opportunity to study for a university degree or professional qualification during an apprenticeship was introduced a decade ago. Apprenticeships are defined by the Government as a paid job that offers practical work experience, alongside formal classroom-based training which leads to a nationally-recognised qualification. This training must account for at least a fifth of the time spent on the apprenticeship and is paid for by the employer.
Apprenticeships are open to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, not just school-leavers and young people. Around the country, there’s a complete range of apprenticeships available – from entry-level programmes, to those that are equivalent to a master’s degree from university.
