Open Evening Postponement

Open Evening moving to Wednesday 1st July

Dear prospective parents and students,

Given the Amber weather warning that tells us Wednesday evening is likely to be peaking at 35 degrees or higher, and the fact that the guidance from the Met Office then suggests: “Substantial changes in working practices and daily routines likely to be required,” we have decided to postpone our Open Evening from Wednesday 24th June to Wednesday 1st July.  All timings remain the same - doors will open at 4.45pm and the evening runs until 7pm. Speeches are at 5.05pm, 5.45pm and 6.15pm.

As a school, the safety of our students, staff and families is paramount, and an evening which tends to see over 400 people in our school hall, in three separate sittings and hundreds of people moving around the site and in classrooms, it seems sensible not to put people at risk when we don’t have to.

I’m very sorry if the change of date affects people’s plans, but on this occasion we really do think this is the best solution, and we look forward to welcoming you all on a cooler evening, on Wednesday 1st July.

As a reminder, if you wish to register for the 11+ examination in September 2026 to join year 7 in September 2027, you must have done so by the deadline of 30th June 2026.  I would normally let everyone know this at Open Evening, but with the postponement, I thought it best to remind all families of this date.

All best wishes,

Mark Grady
