New House Names

At the end of the previous year, it was decided that we wanted to rejuvenate the house system to reflect the diversity of our school community and reconnect it with the students. Consequently, the students were asked to nominate illustrious individuals who they believed would represent them best. Following this, the votes were cast, the choices were confirmed and the chosen figures are as follows:

  • Evelyn Glennie: The Grammy Award winning percussionist who overcame losing her hearing as a child to become a world-renowned musician.
  • Kelly Holmes: The double Olympic champion and founder of the “Dame Kelly Holmes Trust” which provides mental health support for young people.
  • Onjali Q. Raúf:  The award-winning author of “The boy at the back of the class” and founder of the women’s rights organisation, Making Herstory.
  • Mary Seacole: A nurse and healer during the Crimean War and the first Nurse Practitioner at St Thomas Hospital in London.
