Rugby High School - Spring 2020 Issue 24

News from Mr Grady

Hello everyone.

Well, I don’t think I can carry on writing cheery messages in one half of the newsletter, with warnings and health advice in the other, without acknowledging the concerns I’m sure we all have with Covid-19.  We are clearly living through a very difficult time, and as I understand it, one that is set to continue.  I am not going to replicate health advice here, as that is best served in formal communications, but I am going to talk about the mental impact the current health situation will be taking on our whole community.

We will want to be careful.  We will want to protect each other and our families, and we will want reassurance that we are doing the right things.

School, will, in some form carry on for everyone.  I can’t have spent all this time talking about RHS being all about its ethos, about it being a special place, and not draw our attention to the fact that our standards won’t slip even if we’re not in school.  Yes, it might be a bumpy road, and it might be frustrating having to email work, or in some cases work remotely, and not have all the input we might have had, but education will continue.

We will still be here for pastoral care, and for safeguarding.  Your teachers will still be able to offer advice, and I know, that with the variety of online activities one can partake in, that you will have plenty to do, and remote contact with friends, even if you don’t have actual contact as regularly as you might like.

Whatever happens in the next few days and weeks, RHS will be here throughout, and of course, once the world calms down, we will welcome everyone back with our usual kindness, warmth and support, and with heights firmly held in our hearts.

With best wishes,
Mr Grady
