Teacher Strike Action - Important Information

The National Education Union has declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1st February, Wednesday 1st March, and Wednesday 15th, and Thursday 16th March.

The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government and not because of any issues at our school.

Mr Grady has written to parents / carers to notify them that, in discussion with the trustees of Rugby High School, we will have to close the school to all pupils on Wednesday 1st February 2023, due to the planned industrial action of the National Education Union.  The school has completed a full risk assessment, and cannot safely accommodate, monitor and teach students as a result of this industrial action.

It is highly likely that the school will also have to do so on each of the successive dates, Wednesday 1st March, Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March and this will be confirmed as soon as possible.

The school has not taken this decision lightly and remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for pupils, and the school would be unable to provide this with the staff available.
