Rugby High school is a highly achieving girls' grammar school with a co-educational sixth form.

Art and Textiles Technician

Pay and scale: NJC C (SCP3-4) £24,796 - £25,185 FTE pay award pending (Actual £15,976 - £16,226)
Hours: 27.5 hours per week TTO plus 1 week (39 weeks)
Start Date: 1st September 2026 (or as soon as possible after)

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to join our fantastic school as an Art & Textiles Technician. We are looking to appoint somebody with previous Art Technician skills who has ideally worked in a secondary school. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in Art and/or Textiles with a strong creative background.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times
  • Provide support and assistance to the classroom teacher during practical lessons
  • Work on your own initiative as well as a member of a team
  • Plan and prioritise your work effectively
  • Assist in the organisation and presentation of the Art and Textiles Rooms. The department is spilt on 2 floors so some manual handling will be required
  • To attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times, eg. clubs, visits and extra-curricular activities organised by the department
  • On occasion, may be required to act as cover supervisor

Science Technician

Pay and scale: NJC C (Scale 3-4), £24 796 – £25 185FTE pay award pending (Actual £21 970 - £ 22 314)
Hours: 37 hours per week TTO plus 2 weeks (40 weeks)
Start Date: 1st September 2026 (or as soon as possible after)

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to join our fantastic school as a Science Technician, to provide support to enable the smooth running of lessons with a focus on practical activities, and to maintain a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • provide and prepare resources for practical lessons that meets both the health & safety standards and the requirements of the classes involved
  • provide general assistance in the safe storage, transit and accessibility of resources
  • support the Senior technician team in providing and maintaining a healthy, safe and a productive work environment through the routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, laboratories and prep rooms
  • Contribute to the school’s statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children

Deputy SENCo

Scale: NJC H (SCP 12-17)
Contract and hours: Full time, Permanent
Start Date: 1 September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter

We are looking to appoint an inspirational and talented Deputy SENCo to work closely with the SENCo in the strategic and operational delivery of high quality, trauma informed provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities with the aim of identifying needs and raising SEN student achievement.

This role will take a lead role in coordinating exam access arrangements for students in line with JCQ regulations, and where necessary test students. They will manage the operation of the learning support area (BOOST) to create a safe, secure learning base where students with a SEN can access personalised and targeted support to overcome barriers to learning. This role will oversee the work of the Inclusion Support Assistant to ensure effective, timely and targeted interventions for students

Inclusion Support Assistant

Pay and scale: NJC F (SCP 7-11), £26403-£28142FTE (£22888-£24396 actual)
Hours: 37 hours per week TTO plus 1 week (39 weeks)
Start Date: 1st September 2026 (or as soon as possible after)

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to join our fantastic school as an Inclusion Support Assistant to use the trauma informed approach and emotion coaching to build trusting relationships with students with a SEN, treating each student as an individual to meet their needs.

To work collaboratively with other members of the Inclusion Team, the teaching staff and parents, under the guidance of the Deputy SENCo, to provide effective and timely support for students with SEN, particularly those with autism, ADHD and SEMH using the graduated response

Key responsibilities include:

  • To assist the Deputy SENCo in creating a safe, secure learning base (BOOST) where students with a SEN can access targeted support
  • Provide 1:1 and group interventions as directed by the Deputy SENCo to support students with SEN and record these to measure the impact, including those with EBSNA
  • To liaise sensitively with parents/carers, as agreed with the Deputy SENCo, and establish effective working relationships with the student and staff
  • In collaboration with the Deputy SENDCo and the student, prepare learning profiles (passports) on an annual basis to communicate their barriers to learning with teaching staff
  • Assist the SENCo and Deputy SENCo in training staff to overcome barriers to learning for students with a SEN and contribute to tutor meetings and staff briefings
  • To assist the Deputy SENCo and SENCo to develop personalised learning pathways for students with SEN so that they able to thrive and succeed in their academic work
  • Provide administrative support to aid the smooth running of the department; this will include processing any assessments required by external providers, taking minutes of meetings (including those for students with EHCPs), maintaining the SEN/pastoral database
  • Act as a Lead Practitioner for Targeted Support meetings for families where the student has a SEN
